Sharon Kim is a Los Angeles based artist who was born in Korea. She graduated from Art Center College of Design in 2009 studying illustration.
Most of her work consists of
portraits. She uses western painting
techniques that we are all familiar with, then she amplifies by adding the
symbols from Minhwa (Korean Folk Art), that are meant to bless the viewers.
It is important for Sharon to create paintings
that impart the feelings of warmth and positiveness which viewers will be
compelled to share with one another. She finds it more engaging to convey
a sense of happiness in a calm, subtle ways than capturing smiling expressions
directly on the canvas.
